Daddy Day Giveaway: Prize Pack Valued over $100!

daddy_day

Historically, Peanut Butter and Pickle Reviews has hosted giveaways primarily for the moms out there. But what about all you dads? You like to win stuff too!

Welcome to Peanut Butter and Pickle Review's 1st Annual Daddy Day Giveaway! Where we are celebrating the awesome husbands and dads in our lives. For all you dads who kill the spiders in the kid's sandboxes, make campfire smores, fix squeaky bicycle wheels, plant beautiful landscapes, teach little boys to pee off the sides of decks, catch crawdads in streams, shoot groundhogs in the field, bait fishing worms on hooks, and grill up a mean steak.

This is also for you dads who know how to kiss a boo boo, paint little girl's fingernails, read endless story books, rock babies to sleep, change diapers, brush your kid's hair and teeth, and give the best bear hugs any little boy or girl could ask for.

I am not the only one who appreciates dads. I am working with four awesome companies who wanted to chip in and do their part to honor you as well.

Honeywell
Honeywell is recognized as a world class company producing quality products at a fair price. Honeywell knows how important comfort, safety and security are to you and your family. They make top notch fans, heaters, air purifiers, generators and weather stations. One lucky dad is going to get the chance to win the TE653 Weather Station seen above. The TE653 is a complete weather forecaster with indoor/outdoor temperature and humidity.
  • 12 to 24 hour weather forecast with icons and weather alarms
  • Indoor/Outdoor temperature and humidity with min/max memory
  • 24 Hour barometric pressure history and comfort level indicators
  • Remote channels auto scan of up to 3 remote locations
  • Automatically sets to US Atomic clock with moon phase display
Now dad doesn't have to waste his precious family time watering the garden "just in case" it doesn't rain. One look at his weather station and he will be able to plan accordingly.

Retail Value: $41.95

The Diaper Bag Wrangler
I personally don't know too many moms out there who carry a "Manly" diaper bag. We are generally the ones who have it with us the majority of the time. Well it would only make sense that it match our outfit and look cute! Well, dads don't care about cute. If your husband is anything like mine....he would refuse to carry it altogether. And, if he is forced to carry it...it most certainly wouldn't be over his shoulder. It would be tucked under his arm in a football hold or some other "non-feminine" way!
If it were up to him, it would be made of a material that resembled camo or one of his favorite sports teams. Most certainly not floral!

The Diaperbag Wrangler can do just that! It's small, so there is no over the shoulder girl way of carrying it.

No more searching for diapers, wipes or essentials when you need them the most. This multi-purpose organizer can be used in your regular diaper bag or on it's own as a small travel bag. Each organizer comes with a removable link that can easily slip through the ribbon loop on the side and can easily attach to your stroller, shopping cart, etc. The organizer is roomy enough to fit extra items inside and has a sewn-on Velcro closure large enough to adjust to a full or "not-so-full" bag. The back exterior pocket is handy for anything extra you need to pack but keep separate from the main pocket. You can also use for keeping snacks, small toys, change of clothes, or cosmetics contained. Each item comes with an information/care hangtag. Every item is handmade and the fabric pattern placement varies slightly piece to piece making each one unique.

~ Features Holds up to 6 diapers plus travel size baby wipes
~ Ribbon Link Loop offers versatility
~ Additional pocket on backside for extra storage
~ 100% cotton fabric, fully lined interior
~ Front velcro closure
~ Handsewn in USA
~ Hand wash/machine wash cold/gentle, line dry
One lucky dad will receive a Diaperbag Wrangler
(in a very manly print of course).

Retail Value: $18.00

Grill Charms
When I hear the word grilling coming out of my husband's mouth....I automatically envision Tim the Toolman Taylor doing his trademark "ARH, ARH, ARH!" It is just something that brings sheer delight to men around the world. The thought of plopping a big fat juicy steak on a poker hot grill just sends chills down their spines.

There isn't much that could improve things from there.....except of course grilling TOOLS AND ACCESSORIES!!!

Let me tell you ladies, I am so thankful for this next item! I can't tell you how many times my husband has brought his grilling materpieces into the house...forgetting who's burger is who's. I bite in only much to my horror, it is his medium rare burger and not my medium well burger. That's it for me! My burger eating is over. I just can't get past it. Dinner is ruined!

Leslie Haywood, the inventor of Grill Charms was tired of these same type of instances. Except her husband served her an extra hot Jamaican Jerk chicken. She says "After this very memorable and very spicy light bulb moment in April 2006 I have felt what I can only describe as a compulsion to insure every American gets what they want - how they want it - hot off the grill."
According to the Grill Charms website:
How do you avoid mix-ups on the grill? With Grill Charms™ of course! Grill Charm your food prior to cooking to indicate steak temperature, food seasonings and spice, or to address health or allergy concerns. Your food is personalized before, during and after it's cooked.
The way you want it each and every time!
Isn't that awesome ladies!!

Retail Value: $19.95

Better Life
We take extra precautions to baby proof our homes. We put outlet covers in all the plugs, we lock up our cupboards, we put gates on our stairways, hide power cords out of their reach, and lock away medication. We clean our homes in hopes of fending of nasty germs. But, do we pay attention to what we're cleaning our homes with?

Keven, one of the co-founders of Better Life, spent the last several years specializing in natural skin care products. But it wasn’t until he had kids and started “baby-proofing” his house that he truly realized the harm and danger posed by many cleaning products. It concerned him, not only as a husband and a father, but also as a chemist. Applying his vast knowledge of natural ingredients to household cleaning products, it was a short step to the creation of Better Life.

Kevin along with his co-founder Tim have really taken their children and yours into consideration when it comes to their line of cleaning products.

BETTER LIFE products are setting the standard for green cleaning products. As for traditional solvent-based cleaners? Bring ’em on. BETTER LIFE not only outperforms traditional cleaners, but it is completely safe for you, your kids, pets and of course, Mom Earth. In recent tests BETTER LIFE cleaned better than traditional cleaners in removing bacteria from surfaces!
Better technologies. Better thinking. Better chemistry. Better solutions. Better Life.

Ooh - We just bought a Honeywell air cleaner system, and it's awesome. In just a couple of weeks we've noticed a difference in the level of our allergy symptoms. (I didn't look at the website just now, but we looked at it extensively before we purchased the unit.)

I learned at the Honeywell site that the Honeywell RN507W Public Alert Radio is a Public Alert Certified device, making it invaluable for alerting you to any weather conditions in your area. In order to receive information that is relevant to you, the unit offers S.A.M.E. technology (Specific Area Message Encoding), which preprograms the device to receive only those warnings that apply to your local area--you can choose state, county, and/or nearby counties.
That is pretty cool!

Kathy June 16, 2009 10:03 AM

I learned at the Diaper Bag Wrangler that her husband works with her, which I think is nice and is also probably the inspiration behind the manly diaper bags:)

Kathy June 16, 2009 10:16 AM

I learned at Grill Charms that the inventor got the idea because her husband served her an extra hot Jamaican Jerk piece of chicken instead of a mild one because he had forgotten which pieces were which. That's neat!

My dad passed away when I was 17. What makes him so special to me is that I can remember almost nothing bad from him. All I remember is him telling me he loves me and is proud of me and giving me hugs. I love my F-I-L a lot too, he is the kind of guy you turn to when you have a problem and he will jump through hoops to help you!

Honeywell leveraged its scientific and engineering talent to transform itself and adapt to changing times. Mass production was perfected and an array of aeronautical equipment broadened the company's product portfolio. In 1942, the company invented the electronic autopilot (C-1), which proved to be critically important to the U.S. war effort.
They have a long history! I was very surprised!

My dad always made sure that we understood that we were # 1 in not only his life but our own and told/showed us how a man should treat a woman and how to be strong enough to stand up for yourself. He believed in gender equality, my sisters and myself are now shrinking violets!

My Dad deserves this because when all the other parents at the playground were sitting on benches, reading their newspapers as their children entertained themselves, he was leading the playground game of Hide-N-Go Seek. We had so much fun together, every other kid there would always ask if they could get in on our game. He has been not only a father to me, but a best friend, a coach, a shoulder to cry on (and God knows I've used it), a rock, etc.

Thanks for considering my Dad for this great giveaway and for giving me the chance to let everyone know how great he is!

About Better Life products I learned this about the founders (and they're cute too!)

Tim Barklage, Co–Founder / Chief Idealist
Tim has often been described as idealistic and, occasionally, a dreamer in his efforts to make the world a better place. Not the easiest thing to convey on a résumé, but he’s truly lived it. From his early years — being raised in a green home long before it became a lifestyle — Tim’s always believed it’s possible to live a better life. He’s committed his global experience in product development, corporate governance, customer service, marketing and sales to keep the standards high and dress code casual at Better Life.

Kevin Tibbs, Co–Founder / Mad-Skilled Scientist
Kevin is one of the most prolific formulation chemists in the business, having developed over 300 successful products in the past 11 years. He’s the formulator behind many of the products you see in Target, Bed, Bath & Beyond, The Home Depot, and numerous other national chains. His products have also been showcased in Good Housekeeping, House Beautiful, and a few million homes.

My hubby is a wonderful man. When we got together, he immediately stepped in and became Daddy to my daughter, who was 2 at the time. Ally will be 11 this year, and she is a major Daddy's girl! Hubby is not only the best man to me, he's the best daddy for her!
Thanks

Better Life I learned -Better Life blends highly specialized surfactants made from sugar, starch, and amino acids — all safe stuff. You’ll never see sulfates, ethoxylates, fragrances, dyes, or volatile organic compounds (VOCs) such as glycol ethers and alcohols in our products. VOCs vaporize, entering the air we breathe. They’re triggers for respiratory problems, nausea, headaches, and skin irritation, and contribute to many more ailments.

My dad is amazing because my husband and I recently bought a foreclosed home that was in desperate need of many repairs including new siding and major remodeling on the inside. My dad has worked for the last 5 months 6 days a week doing all the work himself and not charging us anything. We may not always be super close but he is my dad and he will do anything he can for me. Thanks dad!

Missesprincess June 17, 2009 7:30 PM

What doesn't make my dad special to me! He raised my sisters and I on his own from the time we were 3, 4, and 5 years old. He always put us before himself ~ and never let us know how poor we really were. I adore my father and can't wait for my child to be to meet him!

My dad is a real kind of guy. He doesn't believe in pussyfooting around just because you're a girl. He taught me to take care of myself. I can change a tire, change out a toilet, and build a deck if I wanted. I love that he never once thought I couldn't do something because I was a girl. I love that he taught me to be so independant.

coriwestphal June 18, 2009 12:04 AM

After visiting Honeywell.com, I learned that the weather station has temperature sensors that have an effective unobstructed transmission range of approximately 100 feet. That way you can keep them away from the house to get an accurate reading.

coriwestphal June 18, 2009 12:08 AM

After visiting the Diaper Bag Wrangler site, I learned that you can get the diaper bag organizer in girly prints, as well as manly ones. And it's handwash only. I think that's kind of a down side but these are still really cool. About time they make baby friendly items for dads too. They change diapers too!

coriwestphal June 18, 2009 12:11 AM

After visiting Grill Charms, I learned that they are Serrated to stay in securely while grilling, flipping and moving. This is pretty ideal so none fall out! That way you ensure nobody gets the wrong steak. What a simple yet brilliant idea!

coriwestphal June 18, 2009 12:13 AM
