Sambucol: Black Elderberry Extract

>> February 1, 2009

It's official.....I now have 2 sick kids in the house
(never mind that one is 5'10")

I CANNOT get sick. I am determined that I will not get sick along with them this time around. Many, if not all of you reading this are also mommas and know that as moms, we simply do not have the time to be sick. We have jobs, families, and households to take care of.

But what can we do to stay health in the midst of a germ infested home?

Sambucol is a unique black elderberry, rich in immune supporting flavinoids.

Flavinoids are powerful, natural antioxidants that are thought to work to protect the body's cells from the potential damage caused by free radicals.

Certain flavinoids - anthocyanins - are found primarily in the pigments of dark blue and black elderberry. It is these that have a remarkable ability to sustain the body's immune system.

According to the United States Department of Agriculture, the highest concentration of anthocyanins are found in black elderberries-nearly double the amount found in any other fruit.

The presence of these anthocyanins, give black elderberries twice the natural antioxident capacity of blueberries and signifanctly more than cranberries. Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity (ORAC) of selected fruits.

Sambucol's unique manufacturing process harnesses the natural power of these anthocyanins providing a health supplement for the whole family.
This morning in an effort to get them well and to keep me from getting their germs...it was a round of Sambucol for the whole family!! I gave one of the chewable tablets to my husband, and myself and a teaspoon of Sambucol Children to my little girl. When I gave Grace her dose, she said "Mommy, I like that. It tastes good!" The chewable was also rather tasty. Not mediciney at all.
In addition to the Sambucol tablets, liquid and children's liquid they also offer: Sambucol Sugar Free, Sambucol Immune, and Sambucol Cold & Flu.

I learned that it is fine as a vegetarian product. I also learned that it is not just for raising your immunity, but is a great antioxidant. When compared, the total "antioxidative capacity of the elderberry was higher than that of the blackcurrant, gooseberry, cranberry, blueberry and redcurrant." WOW! Great stuff!
Warmly, Tracey C.
