Long Hair Lovers

Back in March I attended the Baby Bonanza Expo in Columbus, Ohio. This trip was primarily so that I could scope out some new products for Peanut Butter and Pickle Reviews. I came across a booth that was maned by a very sweet lady named Jennifer who by the way was the owner of this business. Her product intrigued me. It was little bars of what I first believed to be body soap.

Jennifer proceeded to tell me that these little bars were actually Shampoo and Conditioner! They are handmade by Jennifer and her company Longhairlovers. In all my life, I had never heard of shampoo and condition in the bar format. She was kind enough to send me home with one of each to try. These little bars are organic and earth friendly!

Here is how her website describes them:

Solid organic shampoo & conditioner are good for your hair
and good for your planet!

Now it's possible to have gorgeous hair while being kind to the environment. Longhairlovers Crystalline Solid Shampoo & Solid Satin Conditioner are made with natural and organic ingredients that are great for your hair without bottles to further pollute landfills.

Crystalline Solid Shampoo: If other solid shampoos have left your hair limp with buildup, you must try our solid organic shampoo! Made with natural and organic ingredients, Crystalline Solid Shampoo is transparent, which means it's extremely mild and clean rinsing.

  • Strengthens hair with provitamin B5
  • Hydrates with castor oil & glycerine
  • Promotes healthy growth with hair-friendly herbs
  • Transparent formula rinses clean with no residue
  • Cleanses naturally without detergents
  • Gentle enough for babies and children

Solid Satin Conditioner: Gently detangle your hair while adding body and shine with our natural & organic Solid Satin Conditioner.

  • Strengthens hair with provitamin B5 and soy protein
  • Improves hydration, body and manageability
  • Detangles and adds shine
  • Mild enough to use as a rinse-out or leave-in conditioner
  • Great for babies and kids
Both of the bars are wrapped in what appears to be regular cellophane....when in actuality it is EarthFirst PLA made with Ingeo, a compostable film created from plants.

So this morning I tried out Longhairlovers. It felt bizarre not squirting a big lump of shampoo into my hand, but instead lathering up the bar to wash my hair. I thought how can this possibly generate enough suds to clean my hair? But it did! I was amazed. I finished off by using the condition which at first doesn't seem like it's "enough" product. You'll change your mind once you start rinsing it out. You immediatly notice how silky your hair feels. Upon blow drying my hair....it feels so light and clean...not weighed down at all. Don't buy into the media hype that all shampoo and condition has to be packaged in bright and colorful non-enviromentally friendly plastic bottles! I love Longhairlovers, and I'm convinced that you will as well.
