Protect-A-Bed

>> May 27, 2009

ACHOO!
Is that a sound that you have been hearing a lot lately? Many people are dealing with spring allergies, and my household is no exception. It makes you miserable. I know as a child, I suffered with terrible allergies and asthma. My poor mom was constantly washing my bedding to get rid of dust and dust mites. She even avoided hanging anything of mine out on the clothes line because of that.

Oh, if only my mom would have had Protect-A-Bed! It sure would have saved her a ton of work and worry. If she would have know then that the sheets on my bed were not the source of the problem.....
Many people don’t realize their mattress is one of the largest sources of allergens in their home, because over time, mattresses collect and absorb dust mites, bacteria, bodily fluids, skin cells, etc. In fact, it’s estimated that more than 2 million dust mites live in unprotected mattresses, and many people are allergic to their feces, which is left behind within mattresses and pillows.

People often believe a simple mattress pad and regular sheet washing is all they need to protect themselves from allergy inducing dust mites, but that’s simply not the case. Allergy suffers will feel effects despite the mattress pad. That’s why they need mattress protectors that seal in all existing allergens and don’t let further allergens into the mattress.

Protect-A-Bed mattress protectors provide an impermeable barrier between you and the dust mites and allergens within your bedding, while remaining breathable and comfortable. The ultra-thin, extra soft and super absorbent mattress protectors will not detract from the comfort of your bedding, and they are easy-to-use and machine washable.
Protect-A-Bed was kind enough to send me one of their mattress protectors for review. I love that they are so soft and very well made. Our previous mattress protector was thin with horrible elastic. Made me wonder what purpose it served at all. I think that you will agree that Protect-A-Bed mattress covers are top notch. Even better, it can help relieve your allergy symptoms.

What did I learn? I remembered that I need to buy a protector for my sons bed. He has bad allergies that act up a few times a year and then his allergy to bedbugs gets bad. I read over the product information for the mattress covers. I think the terry cloth cover would be perfect for him. It is water resistant but still allows for heat transfer so there are no hotspots. Thanks for this post because you reminded me of something I needed to do anyways.
