Peter Walsh Book and DVD Giveaway
>> March 18, 2010
Spring is literally just around the corner here in Ohio. Temperatures are warming up and the snow is finally melting away. There is nothing more invigorating than being able to open your windows after a LONG winter! It just does something to me. Makes me want to freshen my house! Part of freshening my house it getting rid of clutter. I don't know about you, but I love the feeling that I get when I clean out my closets and drawers, bag it all up and take it to the Goodwill store. It's so freeing!
Now, don't get me wrong....I totally have clutter and plenty of it. But the thing that I'm blessed with....is a motivator that lives in my house. My husband is a great motivator for me. This is usually what it takes for me to get up and moving and getting things done around here. But not everyone is as lucky. Maybe you live in a home where everyone is a pack rat and no one is motivated to do anything about it.
Peter Walsh is a Professional Organizer who has dedicated his life to helping others clean up their clutter and improve their lives. Maybe you have seen Peter on TLC's Clean Sweep or more recently on Oprah. Now, the episodes of Oprah usually featured people who were hoarders and the most extreme cases. Even though your situation may not be that extreme, there is always room for improvement when it comes to decluttering your home.
Maybe you just need help devising a plan. Someone who is going to tell you that no it doesn't make sense to keep that love letter from a boyfriend that you had back in the 7th grade, that stack of Home and Garden Magazines from 1998 or the size 6 jeans that you were able to wear pre-children. Peter Walsh can help you with this. I love his TKO plan. This stand for Trash, Keep, Out the door. It helps keep you focused. Every single thing will belong in one of these areas. Trash things like the magazines, old mail, or anything broken or no longer of use. Keep is for things that you love and use all the time. Out the door with anything that you are certain that does not belong in your life anymore, but could be valuable to someone else.
Overall I think that Peter Walsh's advice is right on target and very beneficial regardless of how deep your clutter problem is. I do have to say that I believe the Young Adult book would be a hard sell for many young adults. It may be easier to market that book to the moms of young adults. I just have a hard time believing that they would take it upon themselves to pick this book up and read it. So, if you're a mom of a young adult with a clutter problem....check it out then share your knowledge with your soon or daughter.

I learned this idea for fiding your favorite recipes fast. It's so simple, I don't know why I didn't think of it myself :)

I liked reading through the section on "storage solutions"....everything from paper and kids schoolwork, to bulk storage. Lots of helpful tips. Thanks so much! pamelashockley(AT)netscape(DOT)net
I had read his book after checking it out from the library. I didn't realize he had a website. I loved that there were all kinds of tips arranged in various catergories. I have bookmarked it and will look at it again this weekend with my husband who needs to let go of some of his clutter.
